Prince Xizor
The Last JediPrince Xizor is a Vigo of Black Sun whose influence rests on more than personal authority: he can call on smugglers, an intelligence network, and a forceful reputation. His dealings with Jax Pavan reveal a broker who can make himself useful to a Jedi while remaining dangerous, guarded, and intent on turning that usefulness to his own advantage.
Position and Reputation
The people around Jax approach Xizor with little expectation of trust. I-Five warns that Black Sun is dangerous regardless of which member is involved, and Jax acknowledges that he does not trust Xizor even as he needs what Xizor can provide. The distinction matters: their relationship is not built on confidence or allegiance, but on the calculated use of resources that Jax cannot readily obtain elsewhere.
Xizor’s authority is visible in his dealings with Tyno Fabris, who reports to him as Vigo. Fabris’s attempt to sound pleased falters when a shift in Xizor’s pheromones affects him; Xizor then commands him to explain what he knows, and Fabris complies. The exchange presents Xizor’s power as both organizational and physical: his subordinate reads a change in his presence as a warning, while Xizor expects information on demand.
The Bargain with Jax Pavan
Jax needs Xizor’s help to get onto Kantaros Station. He expects Xizor’s smugglers to provide transport and raises the possibility that Xizor might also arrange cover or camouflage if the mission requires it. These are practical needs, not signs of friendship. I-Five presses Jax on what Xizor will demand in return, recalling the risk that dependence on a criminal power broker may carry a cost Jax cannot afford.
When Xizor appears, he enters through a concealed door as his Mandalorian bodyguard holds back the tapestry that hid it. He greets Jax with applause and asks whether he went to Kantaros Station; Jax confirms that he did. The entrance and the exchange establish Xizor’s command of the room, but the encounter does not resolve into reliable partnership. Jax suspects Xizor expected his return, and the guards stationed in the corridors support his sense that the meeting has been anticipated.
Intelligence as Leverage
Xizor’s network can shape Imperial movements. At his request, his associates spread seemingly credible rumors that someone was plotting to assassinate Palpatine. The operation draws Darth Vader away from Kantaros Station and prompts Imperial forces to move to the affected area, demonstrating that Xizor’s information apparatus can alter the conditions around Jax’s intended mission without direct confrontation.
The same rumor produces a less controlled consequence. Tyno Fabris recounts that Captain Donari Caron could obtain only three of the prototype P-shields she had been asked to procure. Caron’s contact attributed the shortage to tight security on Coruscant and said the situation would soon change when Palpatine was removed from the picture. The report shows how Xizor’s manipulation travels beyond its immediate target: rumors intended to move Vader also enter the channels through which military supplies and political expectations are discussed.
The Refusal and Its Stakes
Although Xizor had used his network as Jax requested, he ultimately tells him he cannot get him to Kantaros Station. He presents the refusal with an expression of regret, but also admits that he had looked forward to having a Jedi at his beck and call—a distinction that exposes the self-interest beneath his offer. Having a Jedi under his influence would, he says, make him the only Vigo in Black Sun’s history to possess such an advantage.
Xizor’s position is therefore neither simple ally nor straightforward enemy. He can redirect Imperial attention and potentially open routes into a guarded station, yet his assistance remains conditional, and his own ambitions shape what he is willing to provide. His refusal leaves Jax without the promised passage precisely when Xizor’s successful rumor campaign has already changed the security situation, making the value and danger of Xizor’s help inseparable.
